Veneers & Crowns

A Veneer is a new front tooth surface for a tooth.

They are made from very thin layers of ceramic material, which are strongly bonded to the front of your teeth. Veneers are extremely versatile and can be used to mask discolorations, brighten your smile, mask chipped or stained teeth, close gaps and align crowded or protruding teeth. They are often the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth. As Porcelain is impermeable they are highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoke. The result is very natural and highly aesthetic.

Types of Veneers

Immediate Veneers

They are minimally invasive and can be completed in one visit. Dental materials have come on considerably in the past number of years. As a result a beautiful smile can be created in one day with a vast selection of colours and textures to suit our patients.

Da Vinci Veneers

Da Vinci Studios is considered world wide as the leading laboratory in the creation of the finest veneers available. They are the leading brand for over 30 years now. They provide the most natural results possible that rivals nature in fit, function and form.

Ultrathin Veneers

You can have a smile makeover without drilling. We like to conserve as much of the tooth as is possible. This technique allows us to do that in certain cases without even having to use a drill.

Porcelain Veneers

Lumineers by Cerinate are a porcelain veneer that can be made as thin as a contact lens and is placed over existing teeth without requiring any removal of the tooth structure. Lumineers can only be made from patented Cerinate Porcelain. In just two to three visits lumineers provide a custom made smile clinically proven to last up to 20 years.

The procedure is painless, as the tooth does not need to be drilled. They can even be placed over old porcelain bridgework or crown work. They are ultra thin yet extremely strong so as to resist cracking. This restoration offers a 5-year warranty and is replaced at no charge if necessary.

Porcelain Veneers

They are crafted in a laboratory using a wide range of porcelain types that are bespoke to your exact requirements. They are then bonded to your teeth on a separate appointment. Porcelain is less likely to pick up stains.

We often use Emax as it is a very strong porcelain type. Because it is so strong we can create very thin veneers that require less preparation and in some cases no preparation at all. We only use the best laboratories in Ireland, the UK and the USA. Always ask your dentist what laboratory they are using, make sure it’s a good one.

Direct Composite Veneers

They are made of resin and have a plastic appearance. They are made by our dentists in surgery and are applied directly onto the teeth. It only takes a single appointment for this process and in the hands of our dentists it can achieve beautiful results.

Indirect Composite Veneers

These are made in a laboratory where harder more durable plastics are used. These veneers are laser sintered allowing for their sheen to last longer. They look and feel the same as a porcelain veneer and are bonded to your teeth in a separate appointment the same as the porcelain veneer.

Prefabricated Veneers

They are pre made and are chosen in accordance with size and colour by the Dentist. They are made from patented Nano-Hybrid composites using modern laser technology. These veneers are also laser sintered allowing them to retain their polished look. They are also known as ‘Same Day Veneers’ or ‘Instant Veneers’.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown covers or ‘caps’ a tooth to restore its normal shape and size.

It will provide a full coverage of the underlying tooth therefor strengthening and improving the appearance of the tooth. Crowns are necessary when the tooth is broken down.

If a tooth is cracked it is often the only treatment option available. It will hold the tooth together and protect it so it doesn’t become more damaged over time. If a tooth has been root treated we often recommend a crown as the resulting tooth will be weak, brittle and liable to fracture.

What’s involved in getting Veneers?

Examination

Examination and assessment to select the appropriate veneers that will work for you or if alternative treatment is best for you.

Treatment Planning

Your smile will be designed by the dentist in accordance with the amount of teeth you are having prepared.

Moulding

A stone mould of your teeth may be taken at this point for sending to a laboratory for preparation of the veneers. This step is not necessary for the immediate veneers.

Veneer Fabrication

Professional Ceramists design your veneer(s) in one of our select laboratories using only the finest materials.

Bonding

The dentist then bonds the veneers onto the teeth.
